A lot of churches in Albania fight with this phenomena: the children’s meetings are well attended, a lot of children hear the good news, but once the enter adolescence, they drift away. That is why we have a desire to aim at teenagers
In October Fred and Eva returned to Switzerland because of health issues. They have been a huge blessing in helping us see “New Dimensions” get started; so it was not easy to say “good bye”. They have done a lot of practical work, e.g. building a play ground in the Christian children’s home in Gjirokastra. They have poured a lot of effort into renovating the mission’s house. Their neighbours and loved them for their hospitable, friendly way and hard work. We are grateful for the time we were a team and wish them God’s favour for their time ahead in Switzerland. Before leaving Fred mounted a swing in the court yard.
Royal Rangers
It was a privilege to have a Royal Ranger team from our church come and minister in Albania.
They did a great job, doing children’s camps, practical work, e.g. helping set up a play ground in the children’s home, and praying for Memaliaj. At the same time we had Anila (Royal Rangers Albania leader and 2 co-workers from Durres) with us and there was an exchange of experience with our German leaders. There are pictures from this outreach in the gallery...

Conference about "The Holy Spirit"
Can one teach about the Holy Spirit without denominational preference? Our guest speaker did a great job simply sharing from the Word of God; his teaching was very balanced, and besides teaching about the Holy Spirit; we received a a broader picture of the main aspects of Christian living. This seminar was held in 3 towns (Durres (picture), Gjirokastra and Permet). Quite a number of people got blessed by the bible-based teaching and the prayer time afterwards.
It takes a bit longer than anticipated. The ceiling is not made of concrete but plastered reed! Fred our handyman had to figure out how to mount the insulation without having the ceiling come down.
It is exciting to have Fred in our team, who is good with his hands.
That is very “handy” in Albania, and Fred is kept busy repairing anything that is broken.
This is a special blessing when his practical gifting flows together with his fathers heart, as shown in the picture where he involves the children from the orphanage.
This is the building we purchased in October: it is a house with 3 rooms with a shop attached; Fred and Eva will be living in 2 rooms, the other one will serve as our prayer room; on one side of the shop we will put up our community kitchen and the shop will serve as a multi-purpose room for our little community.
New Dimensions is now in the process of being registered as an Albanian foundation. Daniel drove up to Tirana to meet our lawyer and to go to the notary.
End of June the Reichert-family moved into our newly renovated flat in Memaliaj. Living on the 3rd floor (s. photo, top floor) is quite different to our basement-apartment in Gjirokastra.
We are planning to move to Memaliaj in April basically starting this new ministry from scratch. That’s why we are really encouraged by what we experienced the last couple of weeks:
Dana (name is changed) got my attention for the first time, when I bought some items in her little shop. She is a sensitive person, able to sense other people’s needs.
Until recently we, the Reichert-family, were carrying the vision of New Dimensions on our own. We met Fred and Eva Ryter in the summer of 2007 and got to appreciate them and their cordiality and warmheartness. Inwardly we hoped to be able to work together with them, yet we did not want to thwart the plans, they had already made.
